| AIM
began work in Tanganyika, now Tanzania, in 1909. The Africa
Inland Church (AIC) developed throughout the largest tribe
in Tanzania, the Sukuma (population more than 5 million).
Ministries now include a radio studio, a printing press, several
Bible schools, a theological college and two hospitals. There
are also plans for a college to train national missionaries.
AIM
now has more than 70 missionaries working in Tanzania, including
a team in the capital city of Dar es Salaam on the coast.
While the work there is primarily with churches formed by
Sukuma people, outreach to other groups is taking place as
well. AIM also has work among several unreached people groups
in Tanzania.
AIM's
TIMO (Training in Ministry Outreach) program is based in Tanzania,
and coordinates the work of the TIMO teams all over Africa
and the islands of the Indian Ocean. TIMO is a two-year hands-on
training program focusing on a team approach to outreach among
unreached peoples. Click
