1.
Get to know AIM and our objectives,
asking God for guidance as you consider a ministry on one of our
fields as a short termer.
2. Email shorttermassist.us@aimint.net,
call us at 1-800-254-0010 ext. 232, or contact us by clicking
here to receive and complete a Short Term application.
3. Arrange for a personal
interview with an AIM Regional
Administrator and/or Area
Committee.
4. We require four references,
in addition, to your regional administrator interview. References
include one from your pastor, employer, and two friends. It takes
a month on average to receive these references back from your contacts.
5. If your application and
references look good, AIM’s US Short Term Coordinator will
try and match your interest with the needs on the field during that
time.
6. After a placement is confirmed,
this usually takes another month, we send you to the monthly personnel
officer committee meeting. This is where official approval is given
to serve as an AIM short termer.
7. If approved by the US
Council, the applicant will receive an acceptance packet in the
mail giving details about your country and area of service, an estimated
budget, travel information, and medical information.
8. You will attend a three
day orientation at our home office, before the departure. During
orientation the short termer learns more about 1. Biblical basis
of missions 2. AIM 3. Cultural Training 4. Language Learning Hints
5. Personal Finances and Travel
The entire process takes an average of four to six months from the
